Frequently Asked Questions
-
We offer a variety of styles depending on the age group you’re looking for! Styles include Jazz, Tap, Clogging, Hip Hop, Contemporary & Ballet.
-
We offer classes for ages 2-18. Our hope is also to offer adult classes depending on interest.
-
Each class meets once a week.
-
We allow a 3-week observation grace period for new students. After this 3 weeks (or earlier if you’re comfortable!) We ask that parents leave the classroom to allow their child to acclimate to the environment and minimize distractions for the rest of the class! However, we do assign all of our new students a class buddy to help them adjust more quickly and give you the freedom to leave if you’d like!
first day information
This will hopefully answer any questions you may have, as well as let you know what to bring on your dancers' first day of class.
When You Arrive
-Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class. We ask that each dancer use the restroom before class begins. The studio is up the stairs directly off of the lobby when you first enter the building. Unfortunately our restrooms are in the very back of our building so you need to plan enough time for your dancer to use them without feeling rushed.
-For the first week of class we will have a photobooth set up in the lobby. Our hope is to celebrate the beginning of our dance year. If you post your dancers “first day of class” picture on instagram and tag us you will be entered into a drawing to win a Harvest House Dance Hat.
-This year we will have live footage of our dance studio playing on the TV in a waiting room located right off of the lobby. There will be places to sit down there as well. This will give you a chance to observe class and watch your dancer. You are also welcome to sit upstairs in the office or on the landing. We ask that no parents or siblings stay inside the studio during class. You are not required to stay in the building during your child’s class.
What to Wear
-Your dancer needs to wear the appropriate shoes for their dance genre.
-Your dancer needs form fitting clothing that they can move around in. A leotard and tights are required for our ballet classes. We recommend leotards for Contemporary and Jazz classes but they are not required. No oversized t-shirts or sweats please and not pants that drag on the ground.
-No jewelry or watches are allowed during class time. Stud earrings are fine but no hoops or dangle earrings. If your dancer arrives wearing jewelry they will be asked to take it off before class begins.
-Each dancer needs to bring their own water bottle that is full. Only water is allowed in the studio please no snacks upstairs.
-Hair is historically our biggest class distraction. Please have your dancer arrive with hair up and out of their face.
Shoes Needed
Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Creative Movement- Traditional Pink Ballet Shoes

New Security Measures
Harvest House is located in a shopping center with multiple thrift stores, restaurants and the bowling alley. Because of this there are many people that we do not know in the general area of our building. Our top priority is creating a safe space for our dancers. While we already had security procedures in place we are adding some additional measures this year.
-The front doors will be locked between classes. The doors will open 10 minutes before each class and will be locked 10 minutes after class begins.
-While the doors are open we will have a staff member in the lobby to ensure that we know everyone who is in the building.
-If you are waiting in the lobby and someone you do not know knocks on the door we ask that you inform a staff member.
-We will also have a monitor with security footage in the upstairs dance office so that we can keep an eye on everything.
-We ask that no dancer walks to the restroom by themselves and as always a staff member will escort dancers to the restroom if they need to go during class time. Please have your dancer try to go when you first arrive!
The teachers and staff at Harvest House are so excited to start dancing. We can not wait to see all of our returning dancers who we love so much, and to meet our new students who we know will add so much joy to our dance community. Please let us know if you have any questions before your first class!
