CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • A 45 minute pre-k class exploring the dynamics of space, time, shape, and flow. Designed to encourage creativity and motor skills, this class is a great way to introduce your child to dance technique.

    Class Attire: Comfortable clothing that allows for dynamic movement and hair must be secured neatly. Most of our dancers wear ballet attire.

  • Pre-ballet serves our students as a stepping stone from our Creative Movement class to our beginner-level Ballet class. Students will begin to build upon the the technical foundation that they began in Creative Movement while beginning to implement the discipline and poise of the classical ballet style.

    This 45-minute class is great for new students that fall into this age group and wish to concentrate on building their technique, or for students that wish to pursue ballet more intensely.

    Class Attire: Solid colored leotard, pink or black tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured neatly in a bun.

  • Ballet is a classical dance form that is upheld with integrity within our studio. We focus heavily on technique and form while stressing the importance of expression and performance through the genre.

    Class Attire: Solid colored leotard, pink or black tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured neatly in a bun.

  • This class requires a readiness assessment with the Studio Director before registering.

    Ballet is a classical dance form that is upheld with integrity within our studio. We focus heavily on technique and form while stressing the importance of expression and performance through the genre. Dancing on pointe requires proper spine alignment, turn out from the hips, strong ankles and good balance. In this class we prepare and introduce our students to this challenging and beautiful art form. Dancers must have at least two years of dance experience before participating in this class.

    Class Attire: Solid colored leotard, pink or black tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured neatly in a bun.

  • Contemporary (comparable to modern/lyrical) is a dance genre that combines elements of several dance styles. This genre of dance focuses on expression through the execution of fluid movements & creativity! This is a great class for beginners and experienced dancers alike. Class Attire: Leotards are encouraged, comfortable dance clothes (leggings, shorts with tights, fitted shirts), Lyrical shoes, and hair must be secured neatly.

  • Contemporary (comparable to modern/lyrical) is a dance genre that combines elements of several dance styles. This genre of dance focuses on expression through the execution of fluid movements & creativity! This is a great class for beginners and experienced dancers alike. Class Attire: Leotards are encouraged, comfortable dance clothes (leggings, shorts with tights, fitted shirts), Lyrical shoes, and hair must be secured neatly.

  • Contemporary (comparable to modern/lyrical) is a dance genre that combines elements of several dance styles. This genre of dance focuses on expression through the execution of fluid movements & creativity! Jazz is a dance form with Upbeat music and high energy choreography that makes this class both fun and stimulating. Jazz dance takes the technique of Ballet and adds rhythmic and percussive elements. This class will focus on dance technique for both genres. We will spend the fall semester on contemporary dance and Jazz dance in the spring. This will be a fun but challenging class for teens.

  • The best of both worlds! Jazz is a dance form with Upbeat music and high energy choreography that makes this class both fun and stimulating. Jazz dance takes the technique of Ballet and adds rhythmic and percussive elements. Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. This class is fun and upbeat. During this class students will spend time learning both Jazz and Tap technique. This class will perform both a Jazz and Tap routine at our end of year recital.

  • Clogging originated in the Appalachian Mountains as a mountain man’s folk dance. The roots of this quick step dance come from Irish step dancing (as seen in River Dance) and Holland’s wooden shoe dance. This fun and upbeat class is a great way to connect to our Appalachian culture. This class will focus on traditional Appalachian dance technique. We will have two separate times for beginners and intermediate dancers with a hoedown in the middle focusing on partner work. Dancers will also learn other traditional folk dances such as running set and Smooth Dancing.
